PRIMARY DUTIES:
Responsible for the circulation desk including all patron services.
Maintain collection circulation and organization
Children’s library services and programs including:
*Story Time
*Summer Reading
*Tweens & Teens
Curbside services / home delivery and pick-up of items as needed
Cleaning the library including washing the windows & doors and picking up trash outside
Keep all aspects of the library clean, neat and welcoming
Assist with other aspects of library services as needed
Promotion of library and services
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Able to interact with all ages with a positive and friendly attitude
Possess excellent interpersonal skills for effective public relations
Be welcoming, outgoing and energetic with good communication skills
Proficient with technology
Be willing to learn and adapt as well as take on tasks and other responsibilities as needed
Be able to be flexible and use critical thinking skills on a daily basis
Be organized and pay significant attention to detail
Have considerable initiative in devising new and original children’s programs
Be strong in your ability to work well with children, both individually and in groups and have the ability to work effectively with parents, families and teachers.
Be emotionally intelligent
Have a neat personal appearance
Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members and SWKLS members
Be able to stand at the circulation desk, bend, kneel, lift and carry books and other items in the process of shelving them. Books are shelved at various levels from 6 ft to floor level and can be heavy. May need to stand on a ladder at times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED
Strong reading skills, ability to read out loud and interact well with children
Positive attitude is a must
Appreciation and enjoyment of literature preferred
Previous library experience preferred.
