Congratulations to Helen O’Hair who won the People’s Choice Award at the Morton County Library Annual Quilt Show. We had many wonderful quilts and many people were amazed at all the quilts. We so appreciate the ladies sharing their hard work. Be sure to check our Quilt Show page on our web site to see all the quilts. Click on the picture and you can see them up close. Once again congratulations to Helen O’Hair!
We are changing up our Book Club page. We will be having Book Club Favorites on this page showing favorites from Book Club’s in Morton County!
This book was loved by all in the Rolla Book Club, we even tried Potato Peel Pie!
The book is written in the epistolary form, which can be either letters, diary, or document format, this one is a series of letters. The interesting thing was it was about a part of WW II none of us knew about. Guernsey Island is part of the United Kingdom but is right off the coast of France and was occupied by the Germans during the war.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
“I wonder how the book got to Guernsey? Perhaps there is some sort of secret homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers.” January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb….
As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends—and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
